MCBU - Manisa Celal Bayar University


Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBU) is a Turkish state university located in Manisa, a beautiful and historical city in the Aegean region. MCBU benefits from the multicultural heritage of the city whose history reaches back to 1450-1200s BC.

The university offers over 60 degree programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and it is one of the biggest universities in its region. The university has over 46 thousand students including a large body of international students from many countries. MCBU has 15 faculties, 2 colleges, 15 vocational schools, 3 graduate schools, 28 research and application centres and a university hospital. Its number of academic staff is over 1800 and administrative staff is over 1150.

Taking internationalisation as a mission, the university provides a wide range of international bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, subject-related foreign language courses and elective subjects dealing with international and intercultural topics. Furthermore, Manisa Celal Bayar University supports international programmes, promotes mobility, student exchange programmes, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue. To this end, the university has been involved in the Bologna process and develops the European format of higher education.

Manisa is a booming centre of industry and services, favoured by its proximity to Izmir, the international port city (39 km.), and by its fertile agricultural production.
